Shhh… Balance is One of the Secrets

Welcome back!

If we allow our lives to get out of balance we can spiral downhill so fast that our dream will be destroyed before we even know what hit us. An example of this is my mom. She used to be the life of the party, outgoing and friendly, exercising and taking walks, but then she started letting herself go, gaining weight, not exercising, staying home and not socializing. The next thing you know she had a stroke that paralyzed her left side and practically made her an invalid. Then she fell and broke her hip due to lack of coordination. Now, she requires 24/7 care, she is in a nursing home and will most likely die there. Her dream is gone forever. This is an example of how life gets out of balance and you can’t fix it. Therefore, we need to make a concentrated effort to stay in balance in every area.

If you remember our topic we left off with was health, in particular, exercise. Exercise is great when you enjoy it and is even better when you have a partner to do it with. In addition, exercise is most effective when you do it consistently. You won’t get optimal results with hit and miss tactics. In fact, this is true of most everything we do. Whatever we do it needs to be done with a plan and follow through.

A couple of other areas that’s health related is diet and sleep. We can’t expect to stay in balance if we over eat, under eat, or eat junk food all the time. Not to mention too many soft drinks, coffee and alcohol. Too much of any of these are bad news. To stay in balance there needs to be moderation and use of common sense. The sleep factor is huge, not getting enough sleep can really mess you up. If you have sleep problems I can relate, I do too. I try to take a nap if I can, and I’m careful about how late I eat at night and make sure there is no caffeine after a certain time. Of course, sleep aids are bad news too, they’re addictive and only make matters worse. Say no to drugs. Addiction will take you to a place you don’t want to go.

If you are out of balance in any area of your life and you think it’s a secret, the only person you’re fooling is you. Trust me it’s no secret, anyone who knows you, knows you’re on the edge. So why keep up the pretense just confront it, resolve it and get your life back in order. Whatever you have to do to keep your dream alive is worth it. Furthermore, balance is one of the secrets to making your dream a reality. For this reason, make the effort, be committed and take it all the way.

Dig Deep and Do it Anyway

In case you don’t like to read, watch the amazing video’s at the end…

I would like to add to the last post which was keeping balance in our lives. There are several areas we need to pay close attention to and I’m going to touch on one of those today. That being our health. If we don’t have good health we can’t do much of anything. After all, if you’re sick or tired all the time you won’t want to chase your dream, worse yet, you’ll feel like giving up. There are different health related topics I could choose from, but today I’m going with the dreaded ‘exercise’ word. You’re going to hate me, but, I love to exercise. I have noticed that when I go to the gym, even when I don’t feel like it, I feel better afterwards.

Just because you don’t feel like it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it. Sometimes you have to dig deep and do it anyway. I try very hard not to make decisions based on how I feel, but on what I know. I know that once I get to the gym I will exercise. Once I get in there and get ‘in the zone’ I’m off and running. Once I get ‘in the zone’ I’m focused on getting it done, and the faster the better. So, I use a technique known as super setting which allows me to get it done in half the time doing the same amount of work. I’ve been weight training for many years and love it, but as the years went by I didn’t want to spend as much time in the gym as I had been, which was, three to four hours each time I went. Therefore, I began to investigate my options and came across super setting; which was and is the best answer to the problem.

Super setting is something anyone can do, the weight training guru’s like to say it’s an advanced form of weight training and I say ‘hogwash’. If I can do it anybody can. The only part of it that might be challenging is the intensity of it. You see when you super set you don’t rest, you go immediately to the next set. However, all you need to do is start out with easy sets; less reps and light weights. And if you want to crank it up then add more reps and more weight, you have control and can customize it to your level of fitness.

You can do your super sets on weight machines or with free weights, I do both. I super set my legs on machines, then superset my upper body with free weights. There are several methods of super setting the top two are; same muscle group and opposite muscle group. For example, if I use the same muscle group I will do two consecutive exercises for my back with no rest. And if I target opposite muscles I will do an exercise for my back, and follow with a chest exercise. I do both to switch up so that my body doesn’t get used to what I’m doing and not respond anymore. Don’t be afraid to get creative and try something new.

Weight training can be as creative as you want it to be and is one of the best forms of exercise you can do to reshape your body. That goes for men and women. BTW, don’t you women believe the stupid myth that you’ll get big muscles while weight training. Women simply don’t have the ability to bulk up without the help of drugs or supplements. I still weigh under 105lbs and have been weight training for many years.

If you are new to weight training I strongly suggest you work with a professional trainer before you begin. The trainer can explain in more detail super set techniques and show you proper form so that you will remain injury free.

The video’s are fun and also show an example of people doing what it takes to reach their dream. If they can do it so can you. I know you’ll recognize Arnold, even though it was back in the day. The training video for women is Rachel Mclish, so that you can see for yourself that women can still look feminine while weight training. She starts out doing a little sexy come on, but gets into serious training if you keep watching. Check out the determined look on their face as they train and perform. Enjoy.

Is Your Life Out of Balance?

Did you know that keeping balance in your life is essential to reaching your dream? At times it’s hard to do this because when one thing goes wrong it seems like it has a snowball affect. For example, when you have a problem at work you know you should forget it, but somehow you wind up bringing it home. The next thing you know you’re in a big shouting match with either your spouse, kids; or whoever is there. On the other hand, you may clam up when somebody asks you, “What’s wrong?” And say, “Nothing.” Naturally, everybody knows this isn’t true, including you.

At this point things are a little out of balance and you know something is wrong. Moreover, you’re acting out of emotion rather than logic. This is a common reaction that most people are guilty of; however, if you don’t get things back in balance it can escalate. You can destroy your life and the lives of others by allowing this to happen. Consequently, whatever dream you have is also destroyed, and you’re left wishing you had not done or said this or that.

For this reason If you know of anything that is out of balance in your life, do whatever it takes to remedy it. You will know you’re out of balance when you have strong reactions to things that wouldn’t normally bother you. Reactions like excessive anger, anxiety, and depression are signs that you may need to seek help. It’s better to seek help than to sink down so low you can’t get out.

Additionally, if you suspect a friend or family member is out of balance, reach out to them and help them get their life back on track. You don’t have to say anything or confront them, but take action by doing something that you know will help. You can make a difference in another person’s life. Helping others will help you possess your dream for what you make happen for others, God will make happen for you.

Even If They Draw First BlOoD!

Do you ever find yourself wanting to change, but can’t seem to do it? I do. I admit to reacting in completely irrational ways in certain situations. After a while you begin to know when your buttons are being pushed and you think, I have to get out of here before I say or do something ‘ugly’. As hard as I’ve tried in my life to keep my mouth shut, I can’t seem to do it. I think it’s a curse. I’m one of those people that speaks their mind therefore, I should think before I speak; the problem is, sometimes I don’t.

Do you do this? Am I all alone here? It has got me in more trouble than anything. The mouth can be very destructive, the Bible tells us “the power of life and death is in the tongue.” For this reason, I have been trying harder than ever to watch what I say and how I respond to people, even if they draw first blood. I love that line, it’s from the movie ‘Rambo’. When Rambo was confronted for blowing up everything in sight, he responded with,” They drew first blood, sir.”

In other words he said, they ask for it, so I gave it to them. As much as we would love to do what Rambo did, we know we shouldn’t. This type of attitude is rooted in pride and makes matters worse not better. How, may I ask, are we going to reach our dream with an attitude like Rambo? In short, we can’t. We have to control our mouth and sometimes we need to just shut up, even when they draw first blood.

If you’re determined to possess your impossible dream you can reach it in half the time with a good attitude and the use of self-control. Without a doubt, it isn’t going to be easy, change usually isn’t. You’ll mess up here and there, that’s normal, but it’s important for it not to become a habit.

So, the Moonbow Chaser challenge is to first, figure out what needs to be changed in our life; not someone else’s. Then take the necessary steps to change. You can do it! I can do it! We’ll all do it!

Negativity is a Dream Killer

Today, I’m going to help you get out of the habit of staying negative when you have a bad day. That is if you’re willing to do what needs to be done. I don’t believe you can possess your impossible dream if you stay negative, negativity is a dream killer. Don’t let it kill your dream.

Yes, there will be days when everything that could go wrong does. It’s our response to these days that matters. Several negative responses come to mind such as anger, fear, discouragement, and the famous poor old me syndrome. On the other hand, you can choose to respond positively by letting it go. I like to say it this way ‘To grow, you have to let go’. Is it easy? No. Is it doable? YES! You can choose how you feel, it’s a choice, you do not have to live your life feeling defeated.

It’s normal to be negative for a little while, but you need to get over it, the quicker the better. It may be difficult when you first attempt to change the way you’ve handled things in the past. I’m going to be honest and tell you it isn’t easy for me either, but I’m waaaay better than I used to be. This is what I do when I’ve had a bad day. Warning, this sounds easy. I make a conscious decision to change my thoughts, did you know you have control over your thoughts?

Once I know I need to focus on changing my thought process I think about something that brings me joy. Then I take action and go after it, key words being ‘action’ and ‘focus’. This could be going for a walk, reading, writing, music etc., you get the idea. The next thing you know the day doesn’t seem to be as bad as it was. I know this works because I do it. Now, when a bad day comes your way you know what to do.

You’re a Daisy if you Do

Have you ever seen the movie Tombstone? If not, just to get you up to speed, it’s a western starring Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday and Kurt Russell as Wyatt Earp. Most know Doc Holliday was a gunslinger, a gambler and a drunk. Wyatt was an ex-gunslinger turned lawman, these two became buddies and had numerous shootouts and adventures together, stay with me I’m going somewhere.

In the movie Doc had some really great one liners, my favorite being “You’re a daisy if you do.” My next favorite is” I’m your Huckleberry.” Whether you did or didn’t see the movie you may still wonder what he was talking about. I’m going to give my interpretation of what I think Doc meant. I’ll start with the daisy line, a daisy is a flower that’s used a lot for it’s sturdiness; it hangs in there. In people terms it might mean, sure or steadfast. I’m sure you’re getting this now, if you’re sure and steadfast you’re a daisy. Now, the Huckleberry line; he’s saying, I’m your man, I’m the one for the job.

Doc was a confident guy and it showed. He let everybody know he was the guy for the job and if you were a sure and steadfast person he liked that, and told you so. Are you catching on to what I’m saying? Does your confidence show? Are you the ‘go to’ guy or gal? If not, why not?

Answer these questions honestly as you can. If the answers turn out to be no then you have work to do. As you know this blog is about reaching your impossible dream and how to do that. Having confidence that shows and being the one people go to for answers can help you possess that dream.
Confidence doesn’t just show up, you build it. Finally, to be the go to person you need to be there for others so they will have confidence in you.

Moonbow Chaser vs Squidoo

I didn’t post yesterday because I decided to do a ‘lens’. A lens is like a one page blog that allows you to do your thing. It took me all day and into the night to write the article and do the ‘lens’ as I was determined to conquer it and not let it get the best of me. I don’t know who won but I did get it published, for now, I think it’s a tie. The lens is about helping hurting children and their families by donating to a non- profit organization called ‘Feed the Children’. Visit them here: http://www.feedthechildren.org.

The reason I wrote on this particular topic is that it is my passion, helping hurting children is my thing. I have a heart for kids that are stuck in an environment that they have no control over; it’s not their fault. With that said I want you to know when you help others, knowing they can’t pay you back, you will reap great rewards. What you make happen for others God will make happen for you, I believe that. That’s not why I do what I do, but it’s one of the great benefits. I hope you’re getting this because it’s huge and will make an amazing difference in your life and the lives of others.

A true Moonbow Chaser can’t afford to be selfish but instead goes that extra mile to help others. In fact, if you make giving a habit your dream will come true faster. This isn’t just about money, but also taking the time and effort involved to help another persons dream come true.

If you want to check out my lens click below:
http://www.squidoo.com/feedthechildren. Go to the lens then go to Feed the Children’s website and help a few hungry kids with a donation;$10 buys 1,000 lbs. of food. Or go straight to http://www.feedthechildren.org.
What seems small to you is HuGe to them.

Get Real Moonbow Chaser

I titled this’ get real’ because I had to give myself a reality check this week. Have you ever asked yourself, “What was I thinking?” The reason for this is I had been living in this fantasy that I could just write in my blog and it would be easy. As I found out this isn’t the case and that’s why I haven’t written since the 3rd of July. I messed up some code or something and couldn’t post. However, the Moonbow Chaser in me kept going forward so here I am, I won’t bore you with the details they are well, bORiNg.

The good news is I’m making progress in my journey to achieve my seemingly impossible dream. I try to tackle one goal at a time so that I don’t overwhelm myself, but when all is said and done I usually end up in over my head. Nevertheless, I have accomplished several things in the past four weeks like getting domain names, web host, getting an article accepted in a print magazine and one in Ezine articles and of course bringing this blog to life. This is amazing to me because I love to write, but didn’t think I could.

By the way is there something you would love to do but you think you can’t? What is your dream? What steps have you taken toward reaching that dream? One life is all we get. Take a little time and think about these questions. Then when you know what your dream is begin to do some research, find out what it takes to possess your dream. Then start to take steps of action; no action= no result.

Furthermore, when you take action and the pieces start to fall in place an awesome thing happens; hope happens. Hope is powerful and will motivate you to take the next step. In fact, hope is one of the keys you will need to possess your dream, a person without hope gives up. With that said keep your dream alive, and know in your heart that you are a Moonbow Chaser.

Who or What is a Moonbow Chaser?

Who or what is a Moonbow Chaser? If you would have ask me that just a week ago I would have said, ” I have no idea.” That’s because I had no idea until the word moonbow popped into my head while I was writing something else, so I wrote it down. Later on I looked it up and found that a moonbow is simply a rainbow created by the moon instead of the sun. I started researching it and read that they are rarely ever seen. Also on my search I found some impressive photos of a moonbow, if you want to see for yourself just google ‘moonbow’. If I ever figure out how to get the image on here, it will be here. I’m a pitiful newbie without a clue how to do techy things. I’m determined to learn though so bear with me.

Now, to define Moonbow Chaser, in just very few words I would say: it’s a person chasing after a seemingly impossible dream. Of course that’s my definition and since I made up the term we’ll go with my definition, bottom line is that it defines me and others who are chasing an impossible dream, at least in this blog. In the real world, not the blog world, we might be referred to as dreamers, idealists, or maybe just plain crazy. That’s Ok by me, call me what you will, I’ll ignore you and keep moving forward.

With that said, this is my first blog and what I hope to do is gather other Moonbow Chasers to join me in the chase. Do you have a seemingly impossible dream? If you do, I’m speaking to you and challenging you to chase your dream with all you have. It may not be easy, but if you don’t give up, you will possess it.

This is also my first post ‘WOW’ ! I know you’re thinking ‘big deal’ however, you have no idea what complete craziness I’ve been through just to get this blog up and running. I won’t rant on that, I’ll let it go for now and maybe come back to it another day. I plan to have fun and write on a variety of topics, I love to write by the way. The topics will have a common underlying theme which is chasing your impossible dream, whatever that may be.

Thank you for taking your time to check out Moonbow Chaser. I have much to learn and as I learn the blog will continue to grow and be a great motivation to all who are chasing their dream. In closing I would like to say, whatever your seemingly impossible dream is, you can possess it, never ever give up. In your heart you are a ‘Moonbow Chaser‘.
