Negativity is a Dream Killer
Welcome back!
Today, I’m going to help you get out of the habit of staying negative when you have a bad day. That is if you’re willing to do what needs to be done. I don’t believe you can possess your impossible dream if you stay negative, negativity is a dream killer. Don’t let it kill your dream.
Yes, there will be days when everything that could go wrong does. It’s our response to these days that matters. Several negative responses come to mind such as anger, fear, discouragement, and the famous poor old me syndrome. On the other hand, you can choose to respond positively by letting it go. I like to say it this way ‘To grow, you have to let go’. Is it easy? No. Is it doable? YES! You can choose how you feel, it’s a choice, you do not have to live your life feeling defeated.
It’s normal to be negative for a little while, but you need to get over it, the quicker the better. It may be difficult when you first attempt to change the way you’ve handled things in the past. I’m going to be honest and tell you it isn’t easy for me either, but I’m waaaay better than I used to be. This is what I do when I’ve had a bad day. Warning, this sounds easy. I make a conscious decision to change my thoughts, did you know you have control over your thoughts?
Once I know I need to focus on changing my thought process I think about something that brings me joy. Then I take action and go after it, key words being ‘action’ and ‘focus’. This could be going for a walk, reading, writing, music etc., you get the idea. The next thing you know the day doesn’t seem to be as bad as it was. I know this works because I do it. Now, when a bad day comes your way you know what to do.

Hi Sonni,
I learned another great question (and advice at the same time) that goes by this pnemonics – HALT – when you are feeling negative.
That is, “Are you Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired? Just telling yourself “halt” literally makes you stop and think about how you are feeling. Then you can go from there to ask yourself why you are feeling that way… and from there, you can intentionally choose your reaction.
How right you are Arpee, thanks so much for sharing your wisdom with us at Moonbow Chaser.

Hi Sonni!
Durn it, you just made it almost impossible for me to enjoy a good grouch………
BTW, my blues-sinking method is to just focus for a minute on counting blessings, it guarantees a smile on your face within seconds. It is totally impossible to gloom properly when you begin to think about a few of the good things in your life.
Ah, yes the good things, an attitude of gratitude. Great insight Ryhs.
Hi Sonni!
Love the post and your blog. I’ve been chasing moonbows for years!
One of the most deceptive negativities is thinking “I’m not negative, just realistic.” It’s a dream killer. Looking at things as clearly as possible is a good thing of course, but telling yourself your dreams are unrealistic kills off all the other cool paths that may have opened while chasing them.
Good luck with your blog and your own moonbow chasing!

Hi Ronnie Ann,
What you’re saying is so true, we need to watch the words that come out of our mouth.

Thanks Ronnie let the moonbow chasing continue…
