Even If They Draw First BlOoD!
Welcome back!
Do you ever find yourself wanting to change, but can’t seem to do it? I do. I admit to reacting in completely irrational ways in certain situations. After a while you begin to know when your buttons are being pushed and you think, I have to get out of here before I say or do something ‘ugly’. As hard as I’ve tried in my life to keep my mouth shut, I can’t seem to do it. I think it’s a curse. I’m one of those people that speaks their mind therefore, I should think before I speak; the problem is, sometimes I don’t.
Do you do this? Am I all alone here? It has got me in more trouble than anything. The mouth can be very destructive, the Bible tells us “the power of life and death is in the tongue.” For this reason, I have been trying harder than ever to watch what I say and how I respond to people, even if they draw first blood. I love that line, it’s from the movie ‘Rambo’. When Rambo was confronted for blowing up everything in sight, he responded with,” They drew first blood, sir.”
In other words he said, they ask for it, so I gave it to them. As much as we would love to do what Rambo did, we know we shouldn’t. This type of attitude is rooted in pride and makes matters worse not better. How, may I ask, are we going to reach our dream with an attitude like Rambo? In short, we can’t. We have to control our mouth and sometimes we need to just shut up, even when they draw first blood.
If you’re determined to possess your impossible dream you can reach it in half the time with a good attitude and the use of self-control. Without a doubt, it isn’t going to be easy, change usually isn’t. You’ll mess up here and there, that’s normal, but it’s important for it not to become a habit.
So, the Moonbow Chaser challenge is to first, figure out what needs to be changed in our life; not someone else’s. Then take the necessary steps to change. You can do it! I can do it! We’ll all do it!
Often, I have the opposite problem, not speaking my mind when I should have! Then again, there are a number of times when it’s good I have kept my mouth shut!
dcr,
I wish I had your problem of not speaking up, then again we always want what we don’t have, don’t we?
