Give it Your Best Shot

Welcome back!

Chasing moonbows is a full time gig, at least for me. I use the term moonbow chaser as an analogy for dream chaser. To explain, a moonbow is a rainbow created by the moon instead of the sun and it is quite rare to actually see one. Just like when you chase your impossible dream and get close to making it a reality and something goes wrong and it eludes you, yet one more time. Of course, it’s disappointing each time this happens, but that’s how life is. All you can do is pick yourself up, brush yourself off and get back in the ring; a fight to the finish.

That’s how I see life; as one battle after the next. Even if you lose a battle or two, that’s Ok, at least you haven’t lost the war. It’s not over till it’s over. In other words, as long as you’re alive you still have a chance of making your dream a reality. Giving up should not be an option, or even a thought, if it’s something you believe in. Personally, I don’t waste my time on anything I don’t believe to be worthwhile, and that includes people. DO NOT waste time on losers, period!

In fact, it could be the losers that you’ve allowed in your life that create most of the battles. Guess how I know this, because I have had those same losers in my past. What a waste of time and effort; if only I knew then what I know now. Even so, it’s never too late to assess relationships and make the necessary adjustments in order to better your life.

After all, you’re in control of your life, or should be. You are the one responsible for choices made, you’re the one who will pay for whatever goes wrong. You can try to blame others, but this never works in the long run. You just end up fighting yourself, which can be worse, sometimes internal struggles are the worst kind and can result in depression.

It seems then, we need to pursue our moonbow or dream, whatever you choose to call it, in battle ready mode. Determined to overcome the odds no matter who or what happens. There are no guarantees, however, you will gain a great sense of satisfaction knowing you gave it your best shot. Otherwise, you may end up with a slew of’ what if’s’. Don’t let that happen, give it your all, your best.

I Got To Be Me

The last time the topic was burn out and how it can affect your dream. When I wrote that I had way too much stuff going on. I trimmed it down to a doable level and now the dreamchase is back on track. I most certainly was going down hill at a fast pace and my health was suffering for it so something had to go. Guess what that was? My job. I left my job and don’t have another one isn’t that scary in this day and age when the economy is BAD. Well, it was the thing I dreaded most and by far the most stressful, so after much forethought and prayer I opted to quit. It’s been great, I feel like a huge burden has been lifted off of me and I am able to pursue my seemingly impossible dream and actually focus a bit too.

My focus was way off I couldn’t think about anything for longer than 5 minutes. That’s one of the ways you know you’re headed down the road of imbalance; loss of focus. And typically I’m a focused person so that’s why I noticed that every day was all jumbled up into the next, nothing made sense and I didn’t care if it did or not. I’m sure you’ve gotten to the point that you don’t care about things like you used to and wondered why. However, you were so tired you dismissed those thoughts and went on aimlessly trying to fulfill responsibilities and going through the motions of daily life.

I for one don’t like just going through the motions I want purpose and meaning to each day. I want to be working toward my goals and making progress not acting like everything is Ok and it isn’t. Of course, I’m one of those what you see is what you get kind of people so I wear my soul on my sleeve, if I’m down it will be obvious. I’m absolutely no good at being phony, can’t do it, don’t want to do it, won’t do it. I got to be me like the old song says hmmm, I wonder if that song is on Youtube. Of course it is, check it out below,  a classic by Sammy Davis Jr. with a nice little speech too.

Don’t let Burnout Kill your Dream

I’ve been busy working on another blog and have neglected this one. Whether it’s good or bad I don’t know I just know I ran out of time for everything. I know most everyone has this problem now and then. However, I decided it was time to do a post on my favorite blog, this one.  This particular blog is all about chasing your dream which I am doing at a frantic pace. Of course, as usual I try to do too many things at once. And when you do that it can hinder the chase or even bring it to a halt.

That’s what I’m going to briefly write about today. Naturally, when you are hindered or brought to a downright halt you have to look at your life and try to figure out what you can let go. Too many priorties on the plate and something has to go. Then you may go over your daily tasks and think “I can’t let anything go, it’s all important”. What then? Then you have to reassess your priorties and start asking yourself questions, like ” Is this still the most productive use of my time?” “Do I still need to be doing this?” “Or is this something that I should let go of, but don’t want to. ”

That’s what I’ve been doing lately, trying to figure out what can I take away. It’s coming down to having to give up something I love to do, but don’t need to do. Otherwise, my health is at risk due to the load being too heavy, not to mention my dream being negatively affected. After all how can you chase your dream when you’re body breaks down and ceases to function. The answer is simple; you can’t.

It’s important to keep your dream alive for without it life doesn’t have much meaning or purpose. To keep the dream alive we have to keep ourselves alive. And not just alive, but alive and well. The reality is that if your health isn’t good you will not be able to do anything significant. You simply won’t have the strength. I know this from my own past experience when I ran myself in the ground; burned out.

Since I have been there done that, I know the symptoms and can take steps to avoid another burnout. The first step to avoid burnout is to do what I mentioned above. Reassess priorties and cut out the least productive. Sounds simple, but isn’t! The next thing I do is try to get more rest and quiet time so that I can get my energy level where it needs to be. No energy, no production, no production, no dream fulfilled.

For this reason, if you have discovered you are heading for burnout and have too many to do’s on your daily list it’s time to trim down to a doable list. This must be done or your dream will not become a reality, but will stay a dream. I don’t know about you but I want to live my dream not just dream it. In fact, it’s up to us to not let it die, but to bring it to life.
